Helloemy is open to guest contributors who know fashion and beauty from the inside. If you have spent years testing serums, styling clients, building a capsule wardrobe on a budget or writing product breakdowns that people actually finish reading, we want to hear from you.
This page explains exactly what we publish, what we reject and how to send a pitch that gets a reply. Read it fully before you submit. Writers who follow these guidelines get a response within five to seven business days. Writers who send generic templates usually do not hear back at all.

Why Write for Helloemy
Helloemy covers beauty and fashion for readers who want practical answers rather than press releases. Our audience skews toward women aged 18 to 45 who search for things like how to layer niacinamide with retinol, what to wear to a winter wedding, or whether a Dyson Airwrap is worth the money.
Contributing here gives you a few concrete benefits:
- A published byline on an established fashion and beauty publication with an engaged organic and Pinterest audience
- One contextual do-follow link to your own site or portfolio, placed where it makes editorial sense
- An author bio with your name, a short description and one social profile of your choice
- Distribution across our Pinterest boards and email newsletter, which drives real referral traffic rather than a dead backlink
- Editorial feedback from our team, so your draft comes back better than it went in
We do not charge for standard guest posts that meet our editorial bar. We also do not accept payment in exchange for lowering that bar.
Topics We Accept
We publish across the full fashion and beauty spectrum, plus a narrow band of lifestyle content that sits close to both. Before pitching, search Helloemy to confirm we have not already covered your angle. Duplicate angles are the single most common reason a pitch gets declined.
Fashion and Style
Fashion pitches should help a reader make a decision, solve a styling problem or understand a trend well enough to act on it. Purely descriptive runway recaps rarely work for our audience.
Topics that perform well include capsule wardrobe planning, outfit formulas for specific body types, seasonal transition dressing, workwear and business casual guides, plus-size styling, petite styling, thrifting and secondhand shopping, and denim fit guides. We also welcome coverage of slow fashion and sustainable brands such as Reformation, Everlane and Patagonia, honest comparisons of fast fashion retailers including Zara, H&M, Shein and ASOS, and analysis of aesthetics like quiet luxury, coastal grandmother, dark academia and athleisure. Reported pieces tied to New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week or Paris Fashion Week are welcome when they translate the runway into something wearable.
Skincare
Skincare is our highest traffic category, so the standard is highest here too. We expect ingredient claims to be accurate and sourced.
Strong submissions cover routine building for specific skin types, ingredient explainers on retinol, tretinoin, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, vitamin C and peptides, barrier repair, acne and hyperpigmentation management, sunscreen education including chemical versus mineral SPF, and honest brand comparisons involving CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, The Ordinary, Paula’s Choice, Drunk Elephant, Glossier and Korean beauty labels such as COSRX, Beauty of Joseon and Laneige. Dermatologist-reviewed or dermatologist-authored content receives priority placement.
Makeup
Makeup content should be teachable. If a reader cannot follow your steps in front of their own mirror, it is not ready.
We accept technique tutorials, product dupes and comparisons, seasonal colour guides, shade-matching help across deep and fair complexions, editorial looks broken into achievable steps, and reviews involving brands like Fenty Beauty, Rare Beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, MAC, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Maybelline and Rhode. Retail context around Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Boots and Mecca is useful when it helps readers actually buy the product.
Hair Care and Hair Colour
Our hair coverage runs deep, so pitches here need to be substantial rather than surface level.
We look for curl pattern and porosity guidance, colour maintenance advice, balayage, babylights and money piece explainers, scalp health, hair loss and thinning support, heat protection and damage repair, protective styling, and tool comparisons covering Dyson, ghd, Revlon and T3.
Nails, Fragrance and Body
These categories are smaller but consistently underserved, which makes them easier to break into.
Accepted angles include nail art tutorials, gel, dip and acrylic comparisons, nail health and cuticle care, fragrance note breakdowns and layering, dupes for designer scents from Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford and Le Labo, body care routines, and coverage of Korean beauty and Japanese beauty rituals.
Adjacent Lifestyle Content
We occasionally publish lifestyle pieces when they connect directly to how our readers look and feel. Wedding beauty timelines, travel skincare packing, beauty budgeting, dermatologist and salon appointment prep, and confidence or self-image essays all fit when handled with substance.
Topics We Do Not Accept
Some submissions are declined regardless of writing quality. Save yourself the effort and skip these.
- Thin listicles under 900 words with no original insight
- AI-generated drafts submitted without meaningful human editing or first-hand testing
- Content previously published anywhere, including your own blog, Medium or LinkedIn
- Casino, CBD, crypto, adult, pharmacy, loans, essay writing or unrelated SaaS content dressed up as beauty
- Unverified medical or dermatological claims, cure language, or anything promising permanent results
- Cosmetic surgery sales content, weight loss promises or diet culture framing
- Pure brand promotion, press releases or thinly disguised advertorials
- Posts with more than one commercial link, or links to link farms and private blog networks
Guest Post Guidelines
Every accepted submission meets these requirements. Drafts that miss them are returned for revision or declined outright.
Length and Structure
Articles run between 1,200 and 2,200 words. Longer is fine when the topic justifies it, but padding is obvious and we will ask you to cut it.
Use Heading 2 for main sections and Heading 3 for items sitting underneath. Keep paragraphs to two or three sentences so the article stays readable on mobile. Always write a short introductory passage before any bulleted or numbered list rather than dropping readers straight into bullets.
Writing Style
Write in second person and speak directly to the reader. Keep the tone warm, specific and practical. Avoid em dashes entirely. Avoid filler openers such as “in today’s fast paced world” and avoid overused words including “delve,” “elevate,” “unlock,” “game changer” and “must have.”
Original examples beat generic advice every time. If you tested a product for six weeks, say so and describe what happened.
SEO Requirements
Every draft needs a primary keyword that appears naturally in the title, the introduction and at least one subheading. Include a proposed SEO title under 60 characters and a meta description under 155 characters. Add two or three internal links to existing Helloemy articles where they genuinely help the reader. Cite outbound sources such as the American Academy of Dermatology, PubMed, the FDA or the British Association of Dermatologists when making factual claims.
Images
Send at least two original or properly licensed images at 1200 by 800 pixels or larger. Unsplash, Pexels and Canva assets are acceptable when the licence permits commercial use. Include alt text for each image and credit the source. Stock images with visible watermarks are rejected automatically.
Pinterest-optimised vertical images at 1000 by 1500 pixels are strongly encouraged and increase your chances of acceptance.
Links and Author Bio
You get one do-follow link to a relevant, high-quality site placed within the body of the article. Your author bio may contain up to 60 words, your name, a one-line credential and one social or website link. Affiliate links, tracking parameters and redirect chains are stripped before publication.
How to Submit Your Guest Post
Follow this process exactly. Pitches that skip the outline stage take longer to review.
- Send a pitch email with the subject line “Guest Post Pitch: [Your Topic]” to our editorial address listed at the bottom of this page.
- Include two or three proposed titles, your target keyword, a short outline covering your main sections, and one or two links to your published work.
- Wait for approval before writing. We reply within five to seven business days and will confirm the angle, word count and deadline.
- Submit the finished draft as a Google Doc with edit access enabled, or as a .docx attachment, with images attached separately.
- Expect one round of edits. We may adjust headings, tighten copy and change the SEO title without further consultation.
- Once live, we share the published link. Promote it on your own channels if you can.
Published articles stay on Helloemy permanently. We do not remove or edit live posts on request except to correct factual errors.

What Gets a Pitch Accepted
The pitches we approve almost always share the same qualities. They target a specific search query rather than a broad theme, they come from someone with genuine experience in the subject, and they propose an angle we have not already published.
Editorial experience helps but is not required. We have published cosmetic chemists, licensed estheticians, hairstylists, personal stylists, dermatology residents and self-taught beauty writers with a strong point of view. What matters is whether you can teach our readers something they cannot get from the first ten Google results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept guest posts for free?
Yes. Standard editorial guest posts that meet our guidelines are published at no cost. Sponsored placements and product-led content follow a separate paid process, so contact us directly for rates.
How long does review take?
Pitches receive a reply within five to seven business days. Full drafts are reviewed within ten business days. Publication usually happens within two to four weeks of approval.
Can I include affiliate links?
No. Affiliate links are removed during editing. Commercial links are limited to the single do-follow link agreed at the pitch stage.
Will my post be indexed?
Yes. All published guest posts are indexed, included in our sitemap and distributed through our Pinterest and email channels.
Can I submit more than one article?
Yes. Writers who deliver strong first submissions are invited to contribute regularly, and repeat contributors get faster review times.
Do you accept AI-assisted writing?
We accept AI as a research or outlining aid. We do not accept unedited AI output. Drafts that read as machine-generated are declined without further review.
